BLUEBELL BLINDS MEASURING GUIDE.
Measuring for your blinds is extremely important and can be quite critical. There is nothing more frustrating than taking the time to order your blinds, waiting for them to arrive and then finding that they dont fit properly. By following our guide, and getting the right information, we do everything possible to ensure that your blinds arrive a perfect fit.
You will need:
- A measuring tape. HANDY TIP Use a metal tape measure to take your measurements for accuracy.
- pencil and paper.
We will need from you:
- The Width of your blind.
- The drop of your blind.
- The type of measurement you took, Recess or Exact – See below for details of these.
RECESS MEASUREMENT:
The Width :
- Take 3 measurements for the width of the window recess in 3 different locations, as shown in the picture.
- Take the smallest of these measurements. This is the recess width.
- We will make the necessary deductions for fittings & bracketss to ensure the blind operates perfectly within the window recess.
The Drop:
- Take 3 measurements for the drop of the window recess in 3 different locations as shown in the picture
- Take the smallest of these measurments. This is the recess drop.
- We will make the necessary deductions for the fittings & brackets to ensure the blind operates perfectly within the window recess.
EXACT MEASUREMENT: (Outside Recess)
The Width:
- Decide how much you wish to overlap the recess at each side. We recommend at least 75mm or 3 inches each side to minimise gaps.
- Take the overall width measurement including the overlap. This is the Exact blind width.
- We will not make any deductions from the exact blind width measurement given.
The Drop:
- Decide how much you wish to overlap the recess at the top & bottom. We reccomend at least 75mm or 3 inches at the top to allow for secure fittings.
- Take the overall drop measurement including the overlap. This is the Exact blind Drop.
- We will not make any deductions from the exact Blind Drop measurement given.
Hints and Tips for Measuring – If you are measuring for Roller Blinds on doors then first you have to remember that your brackets will protrude by about 2 1/2 inches so if your door opens onto a wall you will not be able to open your door fully. When measuring doors, measure the glass area to be covered, and call that your cloth size. With roller blinds the actual size of the blind including fittings & brackets will be about 1 3/4 inches wider than the cloth.
- When measuring windows for Venetian Blinds with tiles at the bottom, take the inside measurement of the tiles and call that your recess size.
- If you have protruding handles on your windows and are face fixing the blinds that you may require extention brackets with your order.
